Brand expert and founder of The Iconic Brand Africa (TIBA), Omobabinrin Osideko, has revealed that her passion for excellence inspired her to found the organisation through which she creates a platform for learning and development, collaboration and networking, and celebrating individuals, brands, and businesses.
Osideko made this known on Saturday in Lagos during the sixth edition of the TIBA Conference and Awards event, with the theme ‘Redefining Excellence in Business and Career’.
She stated that over the years, she has noticed that it is the same set of people, mostly celebrities and other famous people in society, who keep winning awards, year in and year out.
She however said that other people are doing excellently well too but are not reckoned with.
“But we reckon with them at TIBA, and this is why we are awarding them for their contributions to society,” she said.
Omotola Adedapo, chairperson of TIBA’s advisory board, noted that the theme of the conference is in order and seeks to remind people and businesses that they have the power to craft success stories, redefine achievement paradigms, and forge a brighter future.
“As we gather today, remember it is a day of opportunities. Connect with like-minded professionals, forge relationships, and harness the wealth of knowledge shared,” she charged the audience.
Delivering the keynote speech, Phoebe Dami-Asolo, Senior Franchise Director at a renowned FMCG in Nigeria, spoke extensively about the value and culture of excellence in personal, business, and professional development.
Dami-Asolo stated that given the economic realities of the country and the many bills to pay, no one seems to care about excellence anymore.
She described excellence as striving to be the best in anything one chooses to do, emphasising that there are standards to be observed for people, brands, and businesses to do their work with excellence.
Dami-Asolo however added that most people are not living up to these standards and rather do their work without a touch of excellence.
“Excellence does not chase after us, we chase after excellence, which means we have to put in the work,” she said.
