KANO State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, has said that the only powerful heritable tool parent can give to their children is qualitative and sound education which is capable of liberating them from ignorance.
This was just as the commissioner described community participation as one of the best ways to support and improve the standard of education in the state.
Malam Garba made the observation on Thursday while receiving the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) and Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Government Girls Senior Secondary School Shekara in his office.
According to him, community involvement in meaningful activities and developmental projects in the education sector will also aid the teaching and learning process in public schools.
A statement signed by Director Special Duties, Kano State Ministry of Information, Comrade Sani Abba Yola, a copy of which was made available to pressmen quoted Malam Garba as saying “getting involved in local public education is a good way to have a long-lasting impact on the academic success of the students.”
Malam Garba urged individuals and corporate bodies to complement the government’s policy of free and compulsory education by contributing their quota in the educational sector.
Earlier, the Director, Government Girls Senior Secondary School Shekara, Hajiya Zainab Ado Ma’aji, had said that they were in his office to appreciate him for the rehabilitation of the solar system and borehole in the school.
In their separate remarks, the ward head of Yakasai B, Alhaji Habibu Dauda Yakasai and the Imam of Yakasai, Khalifa Malam Sunusi Bamalli, thanked the commissioner for his tremendous contributions to the school and Yakasai community.
