Parallel congress not to my knowledge in Lagos ― APC congress committee boss

Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Committee on Ward Congress for Lagos State, Dr Bashir Muhammed Ruwangodiyadi, has also affirmed that no parallel Congress ever held in the state, saying that nothing of such to his knowledge whether officially or unofficially.

Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Lagos chapter of APC, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, has also in an interview granted to our reporter in his office on ACME Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, said he was not aware of any parallel Congress held anywhere in the state, contrary to the threat by some groups within the party fold to do such.

Ruwangodiyadi said this while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone, maintaining that the exercise which started at 8 in the morning across the state, went on smoothly, peacefully, without any rancour.

The party chieftain, who disclosed that result of the exercise, which took place in all the 245 wards in the 20 local governments across Lagos had started trickling, declared that he was aware of any parallel Congress held anywhere as nobody actually brought such to his knowledge whether officially or unofficially.

“I am not actually aware of any parallel Congress held anywhere, whether officially or unofficially as far as am concerned. Everything went on smoothly without any crisis across the state,” he said.

Speaking further on the Congress, Ruwangodiyadi, who headed a 7- man Committee, disclosed that his Committee worked in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the exercise commenced in earnest, while moving from one ward to another to monitor and ensure compliance with guidelines, and a hitch- free exercise.

“The exercise and the reports we had is so far so good. The exercise started 8 in the morning, we have deployed all the members of the committee to monitor the ward Congress committees at various Wards. We have also worked with various stakeholders to ensure success of the exercise.

“There was no rancour or crisis anywhere the Congress was held so far, the results are coming in now,” he said.
