Oyo vows to arrest cattle reared in schools

THE Oyo State government has frowned at instances of cattle rearing in schools across the state, warning that such cattle will be arrested and the owners will be prosecuted.

State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, who handed down this warning, while addressing journalists, lamented increasing reports of cattle rearing in schools in Oke-Ogun, Ibadan, among other areas in the state.

“There are various complaints on cattle rearing across schools. One was reported to have happened at Government College, Ibadan. Though it is prevalent in Oke Ogun, it happens everywhere in the state. We have monitors going around our schools and we won’t tolerate such.

“We want to warn cattle rearers to rear their cattle elsewhere, but not in our various schools. Such cows in schools will be arrested and the owners will be prosecuted,” he said.
