Oyo set to become medical tourist attraction

OYO State is set to revamp its healthcare sector to make it a cynosure of all eyes.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in Ibadan, a former Commissioner for Health, Kwara State, and CEO of Health Care Communications Limited, Dr Bola Olaosebikan, conveyed the plans of the state governor to make Oyo State a medical wonderland, in coming months, via the Oyo State healthcare endowment fund.

Olaosebikan, while lauding the p initiative of the state governor to provide an alternative source of funding healthcare in the state, explained that healthcare allocations alone would never be enough to tackle the medical challenges in the state.

He stated that based on the governor’s initiative, N50 billion would be pumped into the health sector.

Though the money would not come from the state treasury, Olaosebikan said that “the governor believes that he has the goodwill to galvanise donations and funding from people not only in Nigeria, but also in international communities.”
