The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State command, Iskilu Abiodun Akinsanya, has charged the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) to do more to complement the efforts of the government security agencies.
Akinsanya gave the charge when the leadership of ALPSPN, Oyo State chapter, led by its Chairman, Mr Seyi Alaba, paid a courtesy visit to him in his office, on Wednesday.
He assured ALPSPN that Oyo State NSCDC will continue the relationship with the body and strengthen it.
“I want to assure you that if there is an issue that requires sending my senior officer to Abuja on your behalf, I will not hesitate to do so. I will build on the relationship already existing before I came into office and we need more of your activities.
“We expect collaboration with the security agencies and since they are private security guards that live within the community, we expect them to give us information on any security issues or whatever they discover within their vicinities so that we can quickly move in before it gets out of hand.

“Security is everybody’s business and when you discover that something is going on within your environment, quickly alert either the private security or the government security agencies, so that we quickly address the issues. NSCDC Oyo State Command is everywhere in the state, in all the 33 local government areas of the state we are there for you to assist you,” he said.
In his remarks, Seyi Alaba said the essence of their visit to NSCDC Oyo State Command was to congratulate the new Commandant who was recently deployed to the state last year and also to introduce the executive of ALPSN that was elected last November to the Commandant.
He said their expectation from NSCDC who is their monitoring body was to assist them in training and manpower development.
He said: “In Oyo State, we are known to be a state that complies with government regulations and we want them to support us because we have some other areas that we need their assistance in terms of training and manpower development. Civil Defence has a training school in Abeokuta and at the state level, we have been doing that so as to boost our training,” Alaba said.
