The chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in Oyo State, Chief Folaranmi Owolabi has been suspended.
His letter of suspension was signed last night by the national vice chairman, South-West, of the party, Lati Arowosaye, on Friday.
Sources revealed that Folaranmi may have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (ADC) in the state.
According to the letter signed by Arowosaye reads: “I am directed to Inform you that you are hereby Suspended from office as the Chairman of Action Democratic Party, Oyo state with Immediate effect.
Your suspension bothers on; your noticeable anti-party activities, misappropriation of party funds, unholy alliance with rival political parties, divulging sensitive and classified information to rival political parties, using your office to cause division and unhealthy rivalry within the rank and file of party faithful, extorting candidates of the party for personal gains against the spirit of echoes of the party constitution amongst many others.
“In view of the above, the Leadership of the Party has directed that you hand over all the Properties of the party in your possession to the State Working Committee who will await further Instructions from the National Leadership, while the Disciplinary Committee of the Party will look into the allegations levied against you.
“The General Public is hereby put on Notice to desist from taking or carrying out any official or financial transaction with and or on behalf of the Action Democratic Party with Mr Folaranmi Owolabi until further Notice.”
Sources close to Folaranmi alleged that the chairman had been in running battle with the camp of the former governor since he joined the party.
Folaranmi could not be reached for reaction as at the time of filing this report.
