GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue State has promised to continue to uphold the principles of separation of powers among the three arms of government.
The governor stated this when he received in audience the outgoing Chief Judge of the State, Justice Adam Onum.
Ortom said that the Independence of the judiciary, the legislature and executive arms of government would deepen democracy.
He stated that the three arms of government would continue to play complementary roles to one another as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While applauding the state judiciary for the respect it has earned in the comity of states of the federation, Ortom described the retiring Chief Judge as a complete gentleman who is a courageous and God fearing who has demonstrated love for the judiciary and the people of the State.
He stated that the processes for the appointment of a new Chief Judge had already commenced and assured that they would be completed on time so that he would take over to avoid a vacuum.
Earlier, the outgoing Chief Judge, Justice Onum thanked the governor and the judiciary for giving him the opportunity to serve the state and the cooperation received by the bar and bench.
Onum appealed that such be extended to his successor and promised to be available to offer service to the State when called upon.
