Chief Press Secretary to Benue State governor, Terver Akase, on Saturday, debunked a report that Governor Samuel Ortom wrote a petition that led to the arrest of his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, by the Department of State Security (DSS).
The former governor was arrested on Wednesday in connection with alleged killings in some parts of the state, following a petition against him.
He described the report as false, misleading and mischievous, noting that the state government once wrote a petition against leaders of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and had filed a lawsuit against the group.

In the statement, Akase said those peddling the allegation that Ortom was behind the arrest of his predecessor were doing so to cause disaffection and create confusion.
He added that the Ortom administration would not be distracted from its commitment to justice for victims of mindless attacks in the state and urged people of the state and other Nigerians to disregard the report.
