Ortom advises electorates against sales of PVCs

The governor also called on security agencies to go after those engaging in PVCs ahead of 2019 general elections in the state.

The governor Ortom gave the advice during an interview with newsmen at government House Makurdi, stating that he had sent security agencies against the people who engage in the buying of PVCs by deceiving them with food.

Ortom accused the opposition party, APC in the state of indulging in tactics going about collecting and buying PVCs from unsuspected members of the public with a view to enrolling them in the federal government school feeding program.

“We have made a policy statement about that, urging people not to be deceived by that antics. Once you apply for a loan or to be enrolled in the school feeding program and you are qualified, you will be selected. So it is not by any criteria and PVCs has nothing to do with criteria for selection of a food vendor or school feeding program.

“You know that since my exit from the APC, the party is no longer on the ground and of course they have no stronghold anywhere in Benue state again. So they have continued to raise the false alarm and tell lies about me.

“Go to the commissioner of police, he will tell you the person who was arrested buying PVCs cards, it was APC member. So none of our PDP members indulges in distributing money and collecting PVCs from people.

Ortom said that the killings and destruction of properties by herdsmen remain the major challenge to the anti-open grazing law his administration promulgated in 2017.
