Tears flow freely as the remains of the former Managing Director of Daily Times of Nigeria (DTN), Dr Adunoyi Ojo Onukaba were buried in his home town in Oboroke, Ihima in Okehi local government area of Kogi State.
Onukaba was laid to rest at his residence according Islamic rites at about 5.30 pm on Monday.
The veteran journalist met died at Ero, Ifedore local government area of Ondo state while returning from Abeokuta where he attended former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s birthday ceremony.
It was gathered that his driver ran to an armed robbery operation at the village located along Akure – Ilesha road on Sunday evening.
It was learnt that the deceased had alighted from his car and attempting to escape from the scene when he was knocked down by an on coming vehicle and died immediately.
Giving his sermon at the burial, the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Alhaji Musa Galadima, described death as inevitable, saying that every living soul must pay the supreme price one day.
The Islamic cleric described Onukaba as an epitome of just and fairplay, urging people to emulate his good virtues.
He prayed to Allah to grant his soul aljanah fridaus and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
Speaking on the sudden death of the former governorship aspirant, the Ohonoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, lamented that Nigeria has lost another gem.
The monarch said the deceased was detribalised Nigerian, adding that his death was a great lost to Nigeria, Kogi State and Ebira nation.
