As the governorship election in Ondo State draws closer, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified efforts to secure the victory of its candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming polls.
With just days remaining before the election this Saturday, the PDP is reinforcing its organizational structure, galvanizing support across the state, and uniting its key stakeholders in a concerted push for electoral success.
Towards this goal, party stakeholders in Ward 7 of Akoko South West Local Government Area held a high-stakes meeting in Oka Akoko on Saturday, where they passed a unanimous resolution to further strengthen their support for the party’s candidate.
The meeting, attended by prominent leaders, executive members, and other party stakeholders, underscored the critical importance of unity and solidarity ahead of the election.

The resolution, signed by several high-ranking party figures, including Ward Chairman Adeloye Adeniyi, Vice Chairman Ademola Samuel, Secretary Kareem Ibrahim, and Legal Adviser Olotu Augustine, called on all members of the PDP across Ondo State to intensify their efforts and remain focused on achieving electoral success.
Party stakeholders emphasized the need for collective action and individual dedication to ensure the victory of Hon. Agboola Ajayi in the forthcoming election.
The document, which was later made available to the media, highlighted the party’s resolve to maintain unity and discipline within its ranks, stating: “We resolve to intensify efforts individually and collectively towards the victory of the PDP and its candidate, His Excellency, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, in the November 16, 2024, governorship election.”
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to commending the leadership of Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, whose role in the party’s successes was praised.
Party leaders acknowledged Ologunagba’s contributions, particularly his efforts to promote the party’s message at both the state and national levels, and his leadership in organizing and mobilizing party structures for the election.
In recognition of his outstanding leadership, the meeting passed a formal Vote of Confidence in Ologunagba.
The resolution, signed by the Ward Executive Committee, noted that Ologunagba’s leadership had been pivotal in ensuring the party’s stability and unity, especially in the lead-up to the governorship election.
It read: “The Chapter unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence in Hon. Debo Ologunagba as the highest-ranking party officer from the state for his sterling leadership at both the Ward and other levels of the party in Ondo State, and his impressive performance as the national mouthpiece of the party.”

In addition to the Vote of Confidence, the Ward Executives also expressed their continued support for Ologunagba and other party leaders in Ondo State, pledging to work collaboratively to ensure a successful election outcome.
In their resolution, the Ward leaders commended all elected party officials in Ondo State for their steadfastness, commitment, and hard work in ensuring the growth and success of the PDP.
They praised the collective efforts of party members at every level, from the grassroots to the state leadership, for their dedication to securing victory in the upcoming election.
Particularly, the Ward Excos expressed confidence that the people of Ondo State would rally behind Agboola Ajayi’s candidacy, citing his track record of service and his deep connection with the electorate.
They emphasized the importance of maintaining strong voter engagement in the final days leading up to the election.
The stakeholders also took the opportunity to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the election is conducted in a transparent, free, and fair manner. The resolution urged the electoral body to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that all votes are counted without manipulation.
“We trust that the Independent National Electoral Commission will live up to its mandate by conducting the election in a manner that is free, fair, and credible,” the resolution stated, highlighting the party’s commitment to a transparent electoral process.
As the countdown to the election continues, the PDP in Ondo State has expressed its intention to present a united front in its bid for victory.
The party maintains that it is positioning itself as a formidable contender in the race with a unified party structure, energized leadership, and a resolute focus on Ajayi’s candidacy.
The main opposition party affirmed that its leaders are working diligently to ensure that the momentum gained in the last few months translates into electoral success, with the hope that their collective efforts will propel Ajayi into the governorship seat.
The PDP is confident that its emphasis on unity, hard work, and commitment to a fair electoral process reflects its determination to overcome any challenges and secure a mandate that will bring lasting change to Ondo State.
