The people of the Akure community has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the nomination of Senator Tayo Alasoadura as the Minister nominee from the State.
Speaking on behalf of the community, a group under the auspices of Akure Community Developmental Forum, also commended the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu for throwing his support behind the nomination of Alasoadura as a federal minister.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, who frowned over the call and protest against the nomination of Alasoadura
Fasoranti said “this is the first time that an Akure indigene will stand a chance of becoming a Minister since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999. We, therefore, stand in solidarity with the appointment of Alasoadura as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We are not unaware of moves by some people to influence the Senate and the Presidency into stopping his confirmation.
“We urge the President and the leadership of the Senate to ignore such calls as they are politically motivated and not in the best interest of Ondo State and Nigeria.
“Alasoadura has demonstrated over the years, an unquenchable desire for excellence, hard work, and commitment to assigned responsibilities.
“Having had an eventful and memorable stay in the Senate, Alasoadura provided what could be regarded as an immeasurably valuable representation to his people.
“As the Senate President confirmed last week, it is to the credit of Alasoadura that the Petroleum Industry and Governance Bill (PIGB) eventually made it out of the National Assembly and now awaiting Presidential Assent.
“As a Chartered Accountant of over thirty years’ experience, chairman of the Finance Commissioners’ Forum in Nigeria for six years while he served as Finance Commissioner in Ondo State, there is no doubt that the country will derive maximum benefit from his Alasoadura’s membership of the Federal Executive Council.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, over the timely constitution of the standing committees of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
The zonal leadership of the APC in the region who made this commendation described the appointments of the standing committee as the right steps in the right direction.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Southwest Zonal Youth Leader of the Party, Lawal Kolade, who said the constitution of the committee would move the nation towards the path of greatness.
Kolade also noted that the list of the House committee chairmen has afforded the House members from the southwest region adequate representation in policy determination in the affairs of the country.
The APC He applauded the speaker as being calculative and accommodating in his discretion, and that the Southwest Youth of the party is in support of all his nominations.
Lawal noted that the SouthWest has not been favoured in the chairmanship of committees in the past as in the ninth Assembly, especially appointment of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) committee chairman.

Lawal who described the speaker’s move as being calculative and accommodating in his discretion assured that the youth wing of the party in South West comfortable with all the nominations made into the committees.
While appreciating the House leadership for a commendable start into the 9th Assembly, the group also lauded the entire leadership of the house on the choice of committee chairmen and vice-chairmen, adding that the lower legislative chamber will continue to receive its support.
Lawal stated that “the Southwest has not been favoured in the chairmanship of committees in the past as in the 9th Assembly and in the NDDC committee chairmanship.
“We feel strongly that Hon Bunmi Tunji-Ojo is an experienced hand from Ondo State, an Oil producing state, and very capable to deliver on the assignment without fear or favour,” he stated.
Gbajabiamila, last week announced the names of leaders and members of committees of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
