Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade drowned after going swimming in a river after church service.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the two people who traveled from Lagos to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Onikoko via the Itori region of the state were confirmed dead at the Ifo General Hospital.
“The two persons who drowned were later identified as Femi Akinola (32) of Odo Eran, Itire, Lagos State, and Tunde Falade (35) of Kola Alagbado, Lagos, after they were rescued from the heavy tides. They were rushed to the Health Centre in Itori where they were unfortunately confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.”

After receiving the report, Odutola said, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, sent his squad to go to the scene, and the DPO confirmed that there were no signs of violence and no indications of foul play.
