About 2,000 delegates, including former Super Eagles players, Daniel Amokachi and Augustine Eguavoen, are expected to participate in Adron Games in Ogun State.
This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director of Adron Homes, Aare Adetola Emmanuel King, during the Ogun State Sports Writers Association (SWAN) Forum, held on Wednesday, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He hinted that the participants at the games are expected to feature in 15 sporting activities, while eight banks, eight tertiary institutions would participate in the games.
The Adron boss represented by the Director-General of the company, Ayodeji Omoniyi, said the games will hold at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, between November 18 and 20, 2021.
King said the games which is in its fifth edition is the Corporate Social Responsibility of Adron Homes and Properties Limited and is meant to discover talents and boost grassroots development in the country.
He said the past editions had taken place in Lagos and Oyo States, saying the real estate firm “is poised to discover emerging world talents across Nigeria and West Africa.”
He further revealed that the Ogun State all-stars will be playing a friendly match with ex-super eagles stars.
He added, “We have not less than eight big banks working with us and partner with us. Our colleagues in real estate will partner with us. We also looking to get past Super Eagle players to and also have the Ogun all-stars to be part of it.
“We are moving the game to Ogun State and coincidentally Ogun happens to be where most of our projects are. Most of our investments are here in Ogun State.
“We are bringing the games to the state and we will be using Gateway International Stadium for the game. We have done a renovation of the stadium in Sagamu.”
Speaking on the events, the Sports Consultant to Adron Homes, Waheed Akanni, said 15 sporting games at the tournament will include football, chess, table tennis, weight lift, volleyball and others.
Akanni said the curtain-raiser for the event will feature a football match between Ogun All-Stars and the former Super Eagles stars.
