SENATOR Peter Nwaoboshi has described, as a bad for Nigeria, the allegation made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the Federal Government has perfected plans to incriminate him.
The Senator, representing Delta North Senatorial district in the Red Chambers, made the remark while on the mobile phone to TribuneOnline on Saturday in Warri, Delta State.
“It’s a bad omen for Nigeria. It’s a bad omen if such a thing can happen to a former president. It’s a very sad one. It calls, for a sober reflection.
He rhetorically asked; “Where’re we going? If Jonathan had done such a thing, would we get to where we are today?
According to the former Delta State PDP chairman, it’s unfortunate and you know Obasanjo is not that type of person that’ll just talk for the sake of talking. He has his own information.
“As a former president and head of state, he has his own information network and doesn’t forget that’s how the Senate president alerted the world when his own was about to start and some people were saying it was not true and now we’ve seen that anything can be possible now.
“The man shouted that they wanted to frame him up and people said it was not true.
How can you say a son of Oloye, who’s been governor twice and former special adviser to the president on budget matters and you say he’s involved in the robbery?
“You can understand where we are going. It’s unfortunate. It portends danger, danger to our democracy. Anybody who opposes the government, they frame him up, it’s unfortunate.”
While absolving Buhari as the likely initiator of the alleged surreptitious plan to incriminate Obasanjo, Senator Nwaoboshi, however, reminded Buhari that he “ascended the throne through a democratic process and he should allow democracy to thrive in the country.”

The senator accused the people surrounding Buhari as likely unseen hands taking the wrong decisions on behalf of the president, whom, he said, was much more concerned and battling with his health.
“Those advising him (Buhari) should leave him alone because I don’t believe that the idea is from him, but from those sycophants around him; those who are desperate and do not want any change, they are the people doing it.
“I don’t think Buhari will wake up one morning and tell them to go and arrest Obasanjo. That’s not the handiwork of Buhari. I don’t think so.
“The man is busy with his health and I don’t think he has the time. It’s the desperate people around him who want to perpetuate power,” the senator noted.
