OBJ, Prince Charles, Jibunoh, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, others for Green Friendly Award

Echoing Green Global earmarks ,000 for emerging social entrepreneursThe maiden edition of environmental management award for sustainable development in Nigeria has been scheduled to hold at the conference hall of Transcorp-Hilton Hotels, Abuja on November 28, 2017.

The award tagged “Environment and” is a registered brand of Douglas Environmental Consultancy Limited instituted for the promotion of good environmental performance both in the public and the organised private sectors of the Nigerian economy through professional rating system.

According to the Vice-Chairman of the organising committee for the event, Mr. Oludare Abe-Ezekiel, the award is intended as a “corporate enabler” to recognise, honour and further motivate government at all levels, individuals in the society and industry operators for good environmental stewardship..

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Monday, he said three states in the country comprising; Lagos, Cross-River and Akwa Ibom shall receive awards for their various government efforts that include; conservation of biodiversity, flood control, urban wastes management, urban facilities upgrade and identification of adaptation and mitigation measures for climate change

Notable individuals to receive awards at the event will include; former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Prince Charles-the Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom, Chief Newton Jibunoh, a civil engineer and environmentalist, Ms Amina Muhammed, the current Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Hajiya Aisha Jibril-Dukku, a member of the National House of Representatives.

President Muhammadu Buhari, the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.
