CHIEF Ambrose Egwuonwu, the Senior Special Assistant on Community Liaison to Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, has called on residents of the state to be part of the government’s initiative toward a clean and healthy environment.
Egwuonwu made the call on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.
He urged the public to embrace the policies of the state government, aimed at keeping a clean and healthy environment for the overall development of the state.

“Obiano has shown that he wants to transform all sectors of the economy through his launch of the ‘Operation Dobe Anambra Ocha’ (Keep Anambra clean) and commitment to grassroots development’’ he said.
Egwuonwu described the initiative as a clear testament that Obiano was committed to improving the living standard of the people.
He, therefore, urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by being patriotic.
According to him, the public is expected to always make effective use of the receptacles provided in strategic areas rather than dump their waste in unauthorised places.
Egwuonwu described the ongoing light-up Anambra project by Obiano’s administration as part of the efforts to improve the aesthetics of the state and restore nightlife.
“We are lucky to have a governor who desires to make every community in the state look like an urban city.
“It is incumbent on us to support the government by doing what is right always,’’ he said.
He advised the people against indiscriminate dumping of refuse, harbouring of criminals while urging them to strive to protect the government’s facilities from vandalism.
Egwuonwu urged every hand to be on deck to sustain the government’s developmental strides in the communities.
