The National Youths Service Corps ( NYSC) on Thursday donated wheel chairs to three physically-challenged students in Sokoto State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NYSC donated the wheel chairs in collaboration with Grace International Project, an NGO.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sokoto State NYSC Coordinator, Musa Abubakar, said the scheme entered into agreement with the NGO which provided the wheel chairs for distribution to indigent students.
Abubakar said that the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries attend their schools with relative ease.
”The agreement also covers other wider areas of assistance in education and healthcare sectors.
”The scheme therefore remains fully committed to further improving the lives of Nigerians in all ramifications,” said the NYSC boss.
One of the beneficiaries, Imrana Umar, a 100 Level Chemistry student at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, pledged to use the wheel chairs judiciously.
Umar appealed to other organizations and wealthy Nigerians to emulate the gesture.
