A total of 1,912 prospective Corps members have been deployed to Bauchi State for the 2024 Batch ‘A’ stream 1 orientation exercise to be conducted by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The figure was provided by the State Coordinator of the Corps, Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, in an interactive session with newsmen on Wednesday in her office.
According to her, registration of prospective Corps members would commence on Feb. 15 and would end at midnight on Feb. 18, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Wailo, in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
She explained that the swearing-in ceremony would be conducted on February 20, while the orientation exercise would end on March 6, 2024.
Rifkatu Yakubu also clarified that each of the prospective Corps members would be allowed into the camp only after being certified.
The NYSC Coordinator further stated that this was part of the security measures to ensure that there was no intrusion or impersonation of any corps members.
She stressed that, “Registration dates have been assigned to prospective corps members and they are advised to adhere strictly to all camp’s rules and regulations.”
According to her, “Defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the NYSC by-laws.”
She also reiterated that the scheme frowned upon late-night journeys, thereby urging the prospective corps members to avoid it.
The state Coordinator advised the Corps members to be punctual, diligent, and to comply with the camp’s acceptable dress code, adding that negligence of the NYSC dressing code would not be tolerated.
