A middle-aged bricklayer identified as Adedapo Ayobami is now being quizzed by the Osun State Command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, for allegedly stealing a plasma television, ten cooking pots, 2 fry pans, two cable decoders, a solar panel with bulbs, curtains, and other valuable items in a house in the Osunjela area of Osogbo.
The criminal, who resides at his residence located at number 13, Oja Oba, Osogbo, is said to have been apprehended on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the afternoon, at the town where he stole the items by NSCDC personnel who were on patrol in the area.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Michael Adaralewa, dropped the hints in a statement made available in Osogbo by ASC Kehinde Adeleke, CDPRO, Osun State Command,
According to Michael Adaralewa, “The offence is in contravention of Section 411 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, which states that any person who breaks and enters the dwelling house of another with intent to commit a felony therein, or having committed a felony in the dwelling house of another, breaks out of the dwelling house is guilty of a felony and is liable.”
He explained that the investigation revealed that, despite the fact that people in the neighbourhood saw the suspect with a load on his head, nobody challenged him, and he charged members of the public to be security conscious by questioning suspected criminals and reporting strange movements in their environments to the security agencies.
However, in his confessional statement, the suspect said that before the owner of the house died, he was a herbalist, and he gave him a traditional soap to improve his financial status and instructed him to collect the soap every month.
While in his house to collect for the month of May, on getting there, he was told the herbalist had died, and he went home disappointedly.
The suspect stated that he was infuriated with the development, and this forced him to visit his home the following day, Thursday, May 23rd.
He checked where he used to keep his key while alive, opened the door, and carted away a plasma television, cooking utensils, a solar panel, bulbs, two different cable decoders, and other household items.
Adedapo Ayobami, however, disclosed that he intended to sell the stolen items to unsuspecting members of the public.
