NSC visits SON, Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, seeks collaboration on trade

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Director, South-West Zone and National Coordinator, Presidential Port Standing Task Team, Mr Moses Fadipe, has led a delegation of staff and management team on a courtesy visit to the office of Oyo State Coordinator, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the office of the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oyo State.

In his address during the visit, the director gave a historical background of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, functions and activities.

He stated that the existence of the council has brought about the formation of Shippers’ Association to monitor and advise where necessary, the activities of importers and exporters in the country, which has contributed to the success of the council’s mandate.

Fadipe said the courtesy visit to SON was aimed at creating synergy and collaboration in order to facilitate trade and reduce cost of doing business to the lowest minimum for the good of importers, exporters and the final consumer.

The visit is also to see that there is harmonious working relationship within relevant Federal Government agencies in the South-West geopolitical zones, to ensure efficient and effective working system.

At the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, the NSC South-West Director reiterated that Chambers of Commerce and Industry are where real importers and exporters could be identified due to their various trade membership.

Fadipe, therefore, stated that the only area where NSC can be of assistance is at the level of advisory, giving direction and solving their problems to enhance ease of doing business.

Responding, the president of the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, Bamidele Samson, thanked the NSC Director, South West Zone and his team for his brief and requested the council members to share their experiences in the exportation business and other areas of challenge.
