The governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the Edo State governorship election, Dr Dennis Osahon Aikorogie, has abandoned his aspiration as he joined the All Progressive Congress (APC)
The development is coming exactly 29 days to the conduct of the September 21 election in the state.
Aikorogie, who announced his defection to the APC at an APC rally held at the Textile Mill road in Benin, said his decision was informed by the need to put the state on the path of progress, as opposed to his personal interest.
He disclosed further that he decided to join the APC from his party, NRM, because of the personality of the candidate for the APC, Senator Monday.
The former NRM governorship hopeful, who opined that Senator Okpebholo’s developmental track record as a serving senator speaks volumes in Edo State, disclosed that he is moving into the APC with over 5000 of his supporters.
He expressed optimism that the APC governorship candidate has the capacity to turn the fortunes of the state around if voted as the governor of the state.
Aikorogie said: “I am here today to lend my support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
“I am coming with my teeming supporters, my members and my party faithful to come and lend our support for the candidacy of Monday Okpebholo because we believe in his person because he is reliable and he is a doer.
“This time around, we need people who do things, not people who talk and take no action”, he said.
