No crisis in Kwara APC ― Chairman

Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, said that the ruling party in the state has no crisis whatsoever.

Speaking with journalists on the sideline of a forum organised by the Kwara South leaders/stakeholders to appreciate Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on the emergence of Prince Sunday Fagbemi as APC chairman in the state, the new chairman said that perceived crisis within the party exists in the imagination of those that think so.

“The perceived crisis rocking the APC in Kwara State is in the mind of those people that believe that there is a crisis. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has denounced his participation in any parallel congress in the last Saturday APC state congress.

“Hon Bashir Bolarinwa that was supposed to have been elected chairman at the parallel congress had also denounced his participation in any parallel congress. That means the question of crisis in the party is a figment of the imagination of those that said there is a crisis.

“However, shortly after my emergence as the state APC chair, I said what is foremost in our mind is genuine reconciliation. We know that we cannot do it alone. We want all hands to be on deck, but at the same, we will bring all that is humanly possible to bring everybody on board.

“And at our familiarisation meeting, I have asked everyone to reach out to those that they feel are aggrieved and parley with them. We have all worked together before, there is no reason why we cannot work together again.

“We are appealing to those people that feel aggrieved to follow the processes that the party has put down for the resolution of these differences rather than going to court; rather than want to destroy the house they have helped to build. There is the need for every hand to be on deck because, by the special grace of God, we will not want anybody to return us to Egypt.”

On the clamour by the Kwara North zone to produce the next governor of the state, Prince Fagbemi said that every aspiration must be within the ambit of the law and party’s constitution.

“Since the beginning of creation, human beings have always craved for the good things of life. Since Kwara State is our common inheritance, nobody will be disallowed from aspiring to any position in the state. There are processes in which everyone can propagate his ambition within the ambit of the law and APC constitution.

“But in this administration of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, there will be principles of fairness, equity, justice and good conscience. With this everybody will be allowed to ventilate his or her ambition but it must be a healthy one.”
