The Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State branch, has applauded the authorities of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, for reinstating the provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Abiodun Adewuya, who was recently interdicted from office.
The Chairman of the association, Dr. Kehinde Saheed, expressed this commendation on Tuesday when asked for an update on the interdiction matter.
He disclosed that Prof. Adewuya was reinstated after being found innocent of the charges leveled against him by the panel constituted to investigate the case.
He said, “NMA Lagos State members are happy, and I, in particular, am even happier that Prof. Adewuya has been reinstated.
“This is a positive development as the action will prevent any further unnecessary and unwarranted interdictions of provosts in our university, regardless of the relationship between the leadership of the university and that of LASUCOM.

“Now, LASU and LASUCOM should put this issue behind them and work together for the progress and development of LASU as a university.”
He also urged the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, to collaborate with the provost of the college in a cordial and harmonious manner.
He emphasized that the goal is to advance medical education in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
