The NLC needs to shelve political partisanship. Ironically, Comrade Ayuba Waba, the NLC leader is a ‘pupil’ of ex NLC leader, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, former Edo State Governor whose style of unionism was not emulated by Comrade Ayuba Waba. There was an allegation of partisanship against the incumbent NLC leader in 20l4 when he directed Ekiti State workers to vote for an APC candidate against Ayodele Fayose of the PDP who later won as the state governor. It is a parody of unionism! So, to succeed as an organized labour force the NLC should shun partisanship as a parochial act.
In the same vein, INEC needs to conduct local government polls. The I999 Constitution should be amended to accommodate the legal provision to empower INEC to conduct all local government elections to checkmate the state constituted electoral bodies from hijacking electoral fortunes of other political parties which are not the governing parties in the states.
