Sodipo disclosed this while briefing the press on the 2018 World Polio Day, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and that the Club had equally expended N50m on polio eradication in Nigeria last year.
The District Governor flanked the state representative of Polio Plus Committee, Dr Festus Adetonwa, noted that a total of $10 billion had so far been committed to the fight against polio across the globe.
He submitted that since the launch of the Polio Plus vaccine in the country that there were no cases of wild poliovirus in the last 26 months.
Sodipo emphasized that the best form of protection against poliovirus is through immunization and that children under the age of 0-5 ages can be immunized severally.

“Today, due to the efforts an commitment of Rotary and her partners, Nigeria has gone more than 2 years without polio and 3 of the last 4 years have been polio-free.
“Between 2009 and 2017, Nigeria went from 388 cases to zero. In fact, as of 2012, Nigeria had assumed a pariah status in the global polio eradication community because it was singlehandedly responsible for half of the global incidence of polio.
“We are proud that we have been involved in this campaign since 1988 and we have been receiving support from political, religious and community leaders in kicking out polio. We have continued to support the campaign against polio through awareness on the need for mothers to make their children available for immunization,” he said.
