The Oba of Lagos, His Royal Highness Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has said that Nigeria has no problem but the people in it.
He made this statement while receiving the new Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Commissioner in Lagos State on Tuesday at the palace.
The monarch expressed optimism that things were going to get better and urged everyone to move closer to God.
In his advice to the new commissioner, Akiolu said he should alert the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to appeal to people for patience because success in the country is at hand.
He told him that his salvation is in his hands and that he should work diligently.
“Right from my youth, I always admired telling anybody the truth, but we human beings only God knows the stuff we are made of.
“I always tell people that Nigeria has no problem but people inside it.
“And things are going to get better. We should learn to get close to the Almighty.
“Let the NOA appeal to people that they have to be patient because success in this country is at hand. In Nigeria, we are very good at identifying how things should be done, not how to solve them.
“You have started very well, but your salvation is in your hands. You have to work very hard and be honest.” He said.
In his opening remarks, the Resident Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, explained that the INEC as a commission cannot do without community engagement and mobilisation.
Ayobami, therefore, acknowledged the role the palace can play in this regard.
He further explained that they expect compliance from the people, and the palace is also the major source the compliance.
