A non-governmental organisation, Akande’s Tunde Movement (ATM) has organised Information and Communication Technology (ICT) empowerment programme for more than 1000 youths in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The NGO as welll organised an academics Scholarship awards for youths in the state’s capital city.
Speaking during the official flag off of the ICT programme held at Polytechnic Ibadan, Ibadan, on Friday, the founder, Akande Tunde’s Movement, ATM, Dr Kazeem Akande explained that the ICT programme is meant to promote youths development in the country, adding that the initiative is also organised in a bid to help the less-privileged have knowledge of the ICT.
He said, “As you can see there are lots of opportunities involved in having knowledge of ICT, so we felt it is important for everyone especially the youths have knowledge of the computer.”
Speaking on the academics scholarships to be awarded, the philantropist noted that successful beneficiaries would be selected from 6 local governments in Ibadan.
According to him, the scholarship programme is meant to give succour to the needy and as well reduce the numbers of youths who could not further their education to higher institutions due to financial reasons.
Akande however pledged to give more support to the development of youths and as well the promotion of education in Nigeria.
