The newly deployed Commissioner of Police to Plateau State Mr Bartholomew Onyeka has assured people of the State that the Police under his watch will discharge its responsibilities in line with the professional ethics of the force also that human rights violation, corrupt practices, and other unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated.
CP Onyeka who gave the assurance during his maiden press briefing in Jos, Plateau State on Friday said enhancement of the existing excellent security architecture of the State Government shall remain a primary objective of his tenure.
He promised to work hand in hand with the host communities to promote peace, security and safety of Plateau State through dedication, commitment and professionalism.
“This I design after a careful study of the security challenges that are prevalent in Plateau State that include; Cattle Rustling, Armed Banditry, Reprisal attack, Kidnapping/Abduction, Culpable Homicide and to some extent farmers/herders clash.
“In order to achieve this, my management team and I have commenced the review of the existing crime-fighting strategies so that we can meet up with the challenges of modern-day policing. Our combat readiness, determination and total commitment towards onslaught against vicious crime in partnership with the State Government, Traditional Rulers, Community and Religious Leaders will be greatly improved and sustained”.
The Commissioner of Police further disclosed that the strategies of the Command will also be an intelligence-led community policing which transcends not just law enforcement to embrace human security and development services but necessarily require diverse expertise and whole community support.
According to him, the policing will be driven by the foreknowledge and guided by intelligence at strategic, operational and tactical levels adding that it be proactive, preventive in orientation and conducted within the context of public ownership, partnership, participation, problems solving and community support with a mainstream human security.
He therefore, assured members of the public in Plateau State that the Police under his watch will discharge its responsibilities in line with the professional ethics of the force. Also, human right violation, corrupt practices, and other unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated.
CP Onyeka therefore, appealed for continued support, cooperation and collaboration from all and sundry through giving useful and timely information to the Police on activities of criminal elements for prompt action.
