NECO examination not deterred by labour strike in Nasarawa

students writing NECO examinationDespite the industrial action embarked upon by organized labour in Nasarawa State, the National Examinations Council (NECO) has commenced examinations across the state.

The State Coordinator of NECO Lamit Abba who disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, said, all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a hitch free examination across all the 448 centres in the state.

According to the State Coordinator, supervisors have been appointed by the state Ministry for Education and they have been duly briefed on the rules of the examination.

She added that question papers have been distributed to all necessary points and would further be delivered to various centres at the appropriate time.

The State Coordinator, however, called on all candidates to eschew any form of examination malpractice that is capable of demeaning their image and future.

Reacting to the new development, the State Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Gabriel Agbashi, declared that no teacher from public school would participate in the examination due to the ongoing industrial action.

He called on NECO to jettison any plan to use external persons to supervise the examination as it will negate the rules of the examination.
