THEĀ Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu, has praised the Nigerian airlines for not only acquiring new aircraft but getting the right aircraft type for flight operations.
The NCAA DG while describing the aircraft types being acquired by the airlines as environmentally friendly with low maintenance and operational cost capacity, said the development gladdened his heart.
Speaking at a brief celebration organised to mark the delivery of the fourth of the initial 13 E195-E2 aircraft ordered from the aircraft manufacturing giant, Embraer by Air Peace Airline, the NCAA DG commended the management of the airline for acquiring the brand new aircraft which he said would not only improve the economics of the airline by reducing operational cost, but would help develop the sector.
Welcoming the aircraft marked 5N-BYI, which arrived from the Embraer facility in Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil with a water canon salute at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in the presence of the chairman of the airline, Mr Allen Onyema with members and executives of Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON), Onyema said the Embraer aircraft type were bought to further improve safety, save fuel, improve operational cost.
Onyema also said the Embraer E195-E2 was a calculated buy because it was bigger than the Boeing 737 and had a technology so advanced that it can land and take off on the shortest of runways.
Meantime, the airline chairman has also pledged to support the tenacity, and resilient spirit of young Nigerians who have shown to always find a way out of any difficult challenge life throws at them.
He made the promise following the announcement of Air Peace by the organisers of the Gulder Ultimate Search, Nigerian Breweries Plc as its partner in the 12th season of the survival reality show.
The unique collaboration according to the Gulder Ultimate Search organisers, will see the Nigerian foremost airline join forces with the organisers to reward the winner and contestants with exciting prizes when the show premieres on screens in October 2021 for the 12th season.

… says we are working towards next ICAO safety audit
Meanwhile, theĀ regular International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) on Nigeriaās aviation industry will be coming up in 2022.
During the audit, ICAO, the international aviation police usually beams searchlight on the safety components that determines the level of safety compliance levels of the Nigerian aviation safety regulations in line with the international standards.
Speaking during his recent interactive session with airports journalists in Lagos, Captain Nuhu, said that the regulatory agency was working in readiness for the audit.
According to the DG, one of the major areas the agency was working on was the area that will pave way for the certification of airports in the country.
Speaking on the certification of airports, Captain Nuhu though emphasised that the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport (NAA), Abuja were already certified m but hinted that progress had been made for the two major airports to undergo re-certification process.
The DG while hinting that Enugu, Kano and Port Harcourt Airports were undergoing initial certification processes, added that as soon as all the open items were closed, that the NCAA would certify the three airports in question.
āLagos and Abuja airports were certified a few years ago and presently, they are going through re-certification. There has been some progress. We have a few gaps that are to be closed. Some have been closed, others, we are in the process of closing them and new gaps have come.
āWe are working closely with the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to close the open items to ensure that the re-certification process is completed as soon as possible.ā
