The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal (NAEPT) has confirmed a receipt of 20 petitions from the aggrieved candidates of some of the registered political parties that participated in the National Assembly Election in Oyo state.
The affected candidates are from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ACCORD and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)
Disclosing this to the newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday, the Secretary of NAEPT, Mr Ibrahim Sada said the petitions were filed within the 21-day period as stipulated by the Electoral Act 2022 as amended.
The petitions, according to the Secretary emanated from the National Assembly election.
He stated that of the 20 petitions, six were on the senatorial election and 14 emanating from the conduct of the House of Representatives polls.
He added that two petitions on the senatorial election were filed by the PDP, three by NNPP and one by the Accord party.
He stated that with regard to the house of representatives election, four petitions were filed by APC, PDP 6, NNPP 3, and Accord party one.
Sada said the 21 days grace allowed by law for aggrieved parties and candidates to file their petitions from the day of announcements of results had lapsed.
