The arraignment of a Businessman, Olusoji Olaniran and his company Oyster Global Links Ltd before Justice Sherifat Solebo of an Ikeja Special Offences Court over alleged N166million fraud has suffered set back again.
His arraignment was stalled due to pressing official assignment handed down to the Judge by the state judiciary.
The news was communicated to litigants and counsels by the court registrar who presented their matters before the court.
The court, however, adjourned the matter to July 8 for the possible arraignment of the suspect and hearing of his bail application as the court told the prosecution to make the suspect available on the day.
Olaniran was brought to court on a count charge bordering on allegations of fraud and forgery by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police on September 10, 2019.
According to his particular offence, Olusoji Olaniran and his company, Oyster Global Links Ltd, between 2016 and 2017, in Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Ondo and other places in Nigeria, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, stole, by fraudulently converting to their own use and benefit, the sum of one hundred and sixty-six million naira (N166Million), property of First Capital Trust Leasing Ltd and Seed Capital Ltd.
The fund which money was the proceeds of the sale of household equipment to Police Officers in Nigeria, arising from a business agreement entered into in Lagos between the defendant and First Capital Trust Leasing Ltd.
The charge further stressed that the business was wholly financed by the said First Capital Trust Leasing Ltd and Seed Capital Ltd, it’s subsidiary.
Olaniran who has not appeared for trial in the last five adjourned dates that the matter has suffered a setback was in court today with his lawyers.
Meanwhile, other litigants whose matters suffer similar set back expressed displeasure over the development noting that the court ought to have informed them as they requested for a new date.
The registrar told the court that “Justice Sholebo will not be sitting today and tomorrow.”
