I woke up one early morning to notice with alarm that my face was swollen. Although I am usually allergic to dust and other minor things, this will be the first time this kind of thing will happen to me. Kindly advise me on what to do.

Facial swelling can be due to mild to serious allergic reactions, such as: Insect bite allergy, such as from a bee sting. Hay fever or allergic reaction from animal dander, dust, cosmetics, or pollen. Drug allergy, such as to penicillin or codeine. While some cases of puffy face can be mild, others may be severe and life threatening. Therefore, if you facial swelling is accompanied by other complaints such as difficulties with swallowing and breathing or extension of the swelling to the eyelids, you may need to urgently see a doctor. If not, severe, an anti- allergy and antibiotics treatment from a qualified health personnel will suffice.
