GUBERNATORIAL candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), in Ogun state, Honourable Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, has hinted that he would do everything within his reach to discourage capital flight when he becomes governor of the state.
Akinlade gave the hint while addressing party supporters at Orita Bamgbose in Isote Ward 12, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State as part of his ward to ward campaign ahead of the March 2, 2019, governorship election in the state.
He stated that one of his cardinal objectives if he is elected governor, is to sustain and improve on the economic legacy built by his would-be predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
Akinlade, who was given a rousing welcome by the people of Isote ward stated further that majority of the projects that would be embarked upon by the incoming government would be executed by people who have their businesses domiciled in Ogun state particularly the youth.
“Artisans such as welders, carpenters, plumbers and others would have so much to do in our government, we would do everything humanly possible to discourage capital flight because we want the money voted for projects to remain in the economy of the state.
“We want to ensure that our people execute the majority of the projects and that is why I want to call on our youth particularly those who are yet to be trained on a specific vocational skill to go and do so because it is only those who have the expertise in one vocational skill or the other that would be given the opportunity execute the enormous projects that will have at hand.”

Candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM), for the Remo federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Adeyinka Mafe, who was among party faithfuls that played host to Akinlade and his team assured him of the people’s support, adding that he and other party leaders would do their best to deliver 60 per cent of the votes available in Sagamu local government to him in the March 2, 2019, governorship election.
At Ode Lemo ward, the spokesperson of Ode Lemo Development Association, Chief Olufemi Saibu, while speaking on behalf of the people of the ward told Akinlade that the major challenges they are facing are: non-availability of a functional hospital, lack of power supply, non-employment for the youth and that they would be glad if he can alleviate their suffering if he becomes governor .
While reacting, Honourable Adekunle Abulkabir Akinlade, said:”It is impossible for me to assist you as an individual, but I can assure that I can be of help as the governor to solve all these problems that is if you vote massively for me on March 2, 2019.
“On the election day, all you need do is after collecting the ballot paper, look for cassava which is the logo of our party, thumbprint at the front by using your index finger, drop the ballot paper in the box provided and wait till the ballot are counted before you leave the polling unit.
“When you do all these, and I become the governor, be rest assured that all that you have requested would be on the priority list of the government as soon as we assume office on May 29.”
