Few days after multiple fatal accidents claimed lives in Bauchi, another ghastly accident has claimed the lives of six people while 24 others were injured in multiple accidents that occurred along Bauchi-Jos road.
Bauchi State Sector Command Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rilwan Suleiman, confirmed the accidents in a statement sent to members of the press Tuesday evening.
According to him, the first crash occurred on Sunday, December 1st at about 1.23 pm at Rijiyar Malam involving two vehicles belonging to the Gombe State Government and a Volkswagen Golf 2 Wagon, with 24 people involved in the accident.
He added that the second crash occurred on the same day at Takandan Giwa village by 11.15 am involving a Commercial Vectra vehicle and a Bajaj motorcycle involving two people.
Rilwanu Sulaiman said that: “The accident occurred on 1st December 2019 at 1.23 pm at Rijiyar Malam along Bauchi-Jos road. It involved 24 people, 9 males, 9 females, 4 male children and 2 female children.”
He added that: “Two vehicles, a Toyota Bus belonging to Gombe State Government (Gombe line) with registration number 10B-31GM and a Volkswagen Golf 2 Wagon with registration number plate LGT – 961 TE were involved in the accident.

“The accident was caused by loss of control. The tyre of the Golf got removed while he was on motion and he lost control and had a head-on collision with the Gombe line Bus. As a result, 5 people were killed and 19 sustained varying degrees of injuries,” he said.
Rilwanu Suleiman also said that the victims were evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for treatment and confirmation adding that: “The second accident occurred on 1st December 2019 at 11.15 am at Takanda Giwa along Bauchi-Toro highway.”
He explained that: “The accident involved two male adults in a commercial Vectra Opel number plate BLG-798AA and a Bajaj motorcycle. It was caused by speed violation and loss of control. One person was killed while the other was injured.”
He said that the victim was taken to Alumma clinic for treatment while the corpse was taken to the deceased’s home for burial according to Islam rites.
The FRSC spokesman further stated that the last accident was the alone crash that occurred on 2nd December at about 9 am at Tashan Maikudi, along Bauchi-Nabardo road.
According to him, the accident involved two people, a male and a female in a Golf 3 Wagon vehicle with number plate: BUU 856 TQ, driven by one Mustapha Dan Yau.
Rilwanu Suleiman told our correspondent that the accident which was as a result of speed limit violation, occurred when the tyre burst and the car veered off the road into the bush causing it to somersault severally.
He added that the two occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
