MSSN rolls out activities for 70th anniversary

About 5,000 participants including President Bola Tinubu are expected to attend the 70th year anniversary of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) slated for October in Abuja, Nigeria capital city.

The chairman, Main Organising Committee MSSN at 70 and former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau while briefing the press in Abuja on Wednesday said speakers have been selected to discuss the way forward for the Society and for Nigeria as a whole to address the economic, social and political issues the country is passing through.

The 34-member organising committee according to the former governor have been selected from across all the geopolitical zones, the 36 states including the FCT who are eminent and prominent members on board to guide the younger generation on how to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

“The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) will be marking its 70th year anniversary this year with the grand finale to hold on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Abuja. There will be about 5,000 participants including President Bola Tinubu. We have invited speakers who are going to speak on the way forward for the Society and for Nigeria as a whole to address the economic, social and political issues the country is passing through.

“We have set up various committees to coordinate the event. We have the feeding committee, finance committee, media and publicity committee, security committee among others. MSSN has promoted peaceful relationship, unity and unity among Muslim Ummah across the country. We are ready to celebrate the 70th anniversary and after we’re going to shape the next decade that will outlive all of us. MSSN will surely outlive all of us.

“The training we have passed through the MSSN has really shaped us to what we have become today. I told at the age of 19 as a student of Ahmadu Bello University in 1974, I had to join through MSSN to Lagos. Through these years at that age, we were being taught moral values; be truthful, be honest, be sincere.

“So, all what I’ve achieved and have done and while in office is as a result of the background training by the MSSN not me alone but many of us in places of position of authority today,” Shekarau said.
