Federal Ministry of Education, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and others have converged to tackle issues of high number of out-of-school children and quality of foundational learning.
The dialogue, which took place on Thursday in Abuja, brought State Commissioners of Education and the Executive Chairpersons of State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) together with technical experts and international partners.
Also present were key international partners, including the World Bank, the European Union, and UNICEF, who joined roundtable discussions to identify new avenues for partnership.
Speaking at the Summit, Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmed, assured attendees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to transforming the sector through the Renewed Hope for Education Programme.
In her opening remarks, UBEC’s Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, described the summit as vital opportunity to reflect on the challenges, align the strategies, and collectively chart a way forward.
Aisha noted that state policymakers, development partners, and education practitioners were to share knowledge on working plan and sustainable, scalable successful approaches.
The ES stated that the summit provokes lasting change, building a stronger, more collaborative network and a support hub where leaders can find guidance and evidence-based solutions.
“Today’s workshop offers us a vital opportunity to reflect on these challenges, align our strategies, and collectively chart a way forward.
“It brings together state policymakers, development partners, and education practitioners to share knowledge on what works—and how we can scale successful approaches in a sustainable manner.”
“Ultimately, the summit aims to spark lasting change driven by the states themselves.
“The goal is to build a stronger, more collaborative network and a support hub where leaders can find guidance and evidence-based solutions.
“This effort is a pivotal move toward creating a Nigerian education system that delivers its true promise of learning and ensures that no child is left behind.” She said.
