Anambra State has reiterated its commitment to effect upward adjustment of workers salaries in line with the provisions of the new minimum wage as soon as guidelines for implementation is released.

The Governor was speaking while declaring the 2019 Quadrennial State Delegates Conference of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) open in Awka, on Tuesday.
He reminded state government workers of his commitment to their welfare even before the minimum wage issue by the organized labour, Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC).
Represented by the Head of Service (HOS), Bar Harry Udoh, he said that minimum wage of N30,000 had been passed into law, but the contentious issue of consequential increment remained unresolved.
He appealed for understanding, calm and sense of discretion by workers as the outcome of labour/government negotiations was being awaited on the guideline for its implementation.
Gov. Obiano told the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria that his watch their challenges would be given due consideration by the government to enable them to function effectively.
Earlier, Mr Matter Ajorutu, a representative of the National President of the Union, Mr Biobelemoye Josiah, extolled the state government for recording giant strides in the development of the state.
State Chairperson of the Union, Mrs Chinwe Orizu, called on the state government to close the disparity in the consolidated health salary structure in the state and local government system.
