A 28-year-old man, Olaitan Hameed, on Thursday appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged burglary and theft.
Hameed, who is facing a two count – charge bothering on burglary and theft, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gafani Musilimi told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 28, at Oluode area of Osogbo.
Musilimi alleged that the defendant broke into the apartment of one Oyedele Titilope and carted away 11 bags of rice, four gallons of groundnut oil and cash of N165,000, belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor put the total value of all the stolen items at N387,400.
He said the offences committed contravened Sections 412 (1) and (2) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsel, Mr Babs Ayodele, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Rofiat Olayemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 and one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide evidence of tax payments to the Osun State Government.
The magistrate also ordered the surety attached two passports sized photographs with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned until July 1 for Hearing.
