Makinde promises to complete 31-year-old abandoned dam in Igboho

GOING by the words of the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, the 31-year-old abandoned Modeke dam in Igboho, Orelope local government will be completed and make to provide potable water to the community and its environs if voted into power.

Makinde made this assurance on Wednesday when the PDP campaign team visited the palace of Onigboho of Igboho, Oba John Bolarinwa, at his new palace,Igboho.

The gubernatorial candidate who also addressed mammoth crowd at town hall on Tuesday evening said his government in conjunction with his deputy  gubernatorial candidate, Rauf Olaniyan who initiated the project while in office as civil engineer, Ogun Osun River Basin Development, a parastatal of Federal Ministry of Water Resources, will ensure speedy completion of the abandoned project.

He said “in every ramification, we have vowed not to deceive the people in whatever capacity. We want to be held accountable for everything we are saying now, we do while in government.

” We are here to plead for your support as all candidates of our great party, PDP. If we all look around, we will see that things are not going the way it should, so, we believe it is time to bring things back to normal that will install confidence and pride of the people back in our society.

“Though, as Royal fathers, all politicians are your children, but when you look at programmes of each of us tabled before you, and our track record just as we know that you want development for our country, state and your immediate community, then, you will know which of your children that has better developmental programmes among us.

“This year’s election is totally different in this country. PDP is going to an election as an opposition party while the APC is also standing for an election for the first time as ruling party.

” We all know that PDP has a way of operation that will ensure that government touches all sections of the society to the last ladder.

“When I was discussing some issues with our deputy gubernatorial candidate, Rauf Olaniyan, he told me that Modeke dam was inaugurated in 1988. We saw the pipes that as laid for water distribution from the dam to the city since it was Mr Olaniyan that started it, I promise you that with him in our government we will make it functional.”

In his response, the Onigboho, who was represented by Arusa of Onigbowo, Chief Job Arusa, thanked the PDP team for deeming it worthy to pay the traditional homage.

Chief Arusa thanked the party for considering it worthy to give some indigenes to fly the flag of the party in the coming election.

The PDP team also visited Iba Bonni, Igboho, Alhaji Abdulwahab Olayiwola Adeladan, the palace of Alamodu of Ago-Amodu where it met with the council of chiefs and branched at the Oloje of Oje Owode, Oba Abdulrasheed Oyinloye, Gbadewolu I.

In Sepeteri, Saki East local government, Makinde who visited strategic places to meet with religious leaders, traditional rulers and politicians urge the people of the town to vote massively for all PDP candidates in February 16 and March 2 election.
