If you live in Nigeria, then you have most likely tasted puff-puff. But have you eaten puff-puff that has chocolate filling? I bet you have not.
This snack is very easy to make, same way you will make your typical puff-puff, but with just a little twist.
The exact measurements you will need for the puff-puff are:
3½ cups of flour
½ cup of sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper (Optional)
Chocolate bars
½ teaspoon nutmeg powder
1½ cup of water
Oil for frying
You will also need a kitchen injector to use to fill the puff-puff with chocolate.
METHOD:
Pour your already sieved flour in a bowl and add sugar, yeast, pepper, nutmeg powder and salt. Pour water and keep stirring till you get a fine batter. When you have achieved that fine batter, get a clean kitchen towel and cover the bowl. Place it in a warm place for about 30 minutes or depending on how much you want the dough to rise. When this is achieved, mix again with a whisk. After mixing, it is time to fry.
To fry your puff-puff, make sure you use a deep frying pan or a pot as the puff-puff is supposed to be deep fried. Pour enough oil inside the pot and place on medium heat. Proceed to putting the mixed dough inside the oil with your hands, making each size as big/small as you want and in a ball-like shape. Fry until golden brown and transfer into another bowl. Now it’s time to fill the puff-puff with chocolate.
To do this, heat up some chocolate bars by putting the bars in a bowl and placing the bowl inside a pot with boiling water. Make sure the water doesn’t touch the chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted, transfer it inside the kitchen injector. Pick each puff-puff and inject the chocolate inside until all the puff-puff has chocolate in them.
Then your puff-puff with chocolate filling is ready! Enjoy with any chilled drink of your choice.
