“While they are heating up the system, their children are in schools overseas, they use other children to foment trouble. We call on them to desist from this.
“We want to advise our leaders to always ensure they do the right things, the needs of the society are enormous. Human needs are insatiable, the need in Nigeria is different from needs in the USA, each community has its own needs. As a club, we have identified our own needs, we want to take care of people suffering from diabetes, cataract and ensure that people are fed in a peaceful environment, among others.”
In his submission, the first District Governor, Bernard Eboreine, appealed to ASUU and the Federal government to agree on an operational equilibrium to resolve the ongoing impasse in university education in Nigeria.
He said: “We want to appeal to ASUU to consider our children out of schools, we know they need their livelihood but we are asking both the Federal government and ASUU to strike a balance that is going to be peaceful and long-lasting to the progress of our children.”
“We have a term limit, our service year starts from 1st of July and ends on 30th June. Our governor who takes over last year 1st July ends his term by 30th June this year. So, we encourage our politicians to see how we do things in Lions Clubs not to heat up the polity.
“Heating up the children, their children are in schools overseas, they use other children to propagate their own interest. Let the press propagate the message of peace by Lions Clubs to ensure we live in a world of peace.”
