Wushishi Local Government Council in Niger on Monday said it spent N3 million to purchase assorted drugs and medical facilities for its rural health centers across its 10 wards.
Alhaji Shuaibu Wushishi, Chairman of the Council made the disclosure in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
He said that the measure was part of the administration’s commitment to providing basic facilities for qualitative healthcare delivery in the area.
Wushishi explained that already the drugs and medical sundries were distributed to all the existing rural health centers in the area.
He reiterated the determination of the council to accord priority attention to the health sector through the provision of basic health facilities.
“We will also retrain our health workers to enable them acquire more knowledge in meeting the healthcare needs of our people,’’ he said.
The chairman solicited the support of the people by reporting any outbreak of epidemic to the nearest health institution for prompt medical action.
