Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has charged the corps members to leave outstanding legacies in their places of primary assignment.

Governor Ajimobi stated this during the Orientation exercise closing ceremony for the 2017 Batch ‘B’ (Stream 11) corps members deployed to Oyo State and those dislodged from Kwara and Ogun States respectively.

Ajimobi, who was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Abayomi Oke said that one of the primary objectives of the Scheme is for the service corps to better the lots of people with whom they will carry out their national assignment.

The Governor told the gathering that the government has put in place machinery to effectively protect the lives and properties of the service corps.

He, however, admonished the ambassadors of this great country not to misuse the privileges conferred on them by the constitution to engage in acts that will threaten the unity of Nigeria.

Governor Ajimobi promised that corps members who distinguished themselves during the service year will be adequately rewarded at the end of the service year.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi expressed appreciation to the government and good people of Oyo state for being a good host to the corps members.

Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi specially thanked the Oyo State NYSC Governing Board for ensuring the smooth operations of the scheme in the state.

The State Coordinator implored the corps members to take advantage of the skills acquisition training they were exposed to in the camp to wipe out poverty in the land.

The NYSC boss said, ‘my patriotic gentlemen corps members, the scheme has in the last three weeks invested in your lives and it is hoped that you will deploy the training received to make yourselves independent and become job creators during and after the service year’.

At the closing ceremony, some corps members who excellently performed above expectations were rewarded with commendation letters and the recipients cut across the three states that converged on NYSC Camp in Iseyin for orientation course.

Two camp officials who worked with Kitchen and Sanitation Committees respectively were also honoured for their sacrifice and commitment to camp duties.
