The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola, at the weekend disclosed that the commission is set to begin the Register-To-Open initiative of the state government, saying this was in line with the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration towards reopening of the state economy.
Mojola said this in a statement issued by his office, disclosing further that guidelines towards reopening of the economy had been developed and consultations were ongoing with stakeholders in partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
He noted that upon registration, a verification process would be carried out to ensure adequate space management was put in place across the various centres to guarantee that social distancing, hygiene and safety measures were observed across all religious and social centres.
He said Governor Sanwo-Olu had set up a committee, headed by the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, to ensure that the process was seamless.
According to him, the commission will be engaging stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sectors on the best approach to the gradual reopening of the economy and registration of entities within the various sectors, assuring that the process is not tedious and time-consuming.
He further assured that process would consider all religious organisations, event centres, gyms, night clubs, bars, lounges, spars, cinemas and restaurants, among others.
