The Nigerian Labour Party (LP), has dismissed the Ministerial list of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a mere list which would not make any impact on the lives of Nigerians.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had communicated with the national assembly in consonance with the law of the land that required him to present the list of ministers within 60 days after his inauguration to the National Assembly.
The list contained 28 Nigerians whom he wants to administer the country alongside his presidential mandate, as he embarks on the four year journey.
Chief Spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential campaign council, Tanko Yunusa, said the list does not in any way concern the Labour Party and as such does not inspire any reaction from the party as it is still in court contesting the mandate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate as winner of the February 25, 2023 elections.
His words: “We are challenging the legitimacy of this government. In that case, if we are to make any comment, it will be a general comment.
“Not in the terms of saying we are making it on the administration. As far as we are concerned whether the ministerial list is out or not, we are not perturbed in any way.
“We only observe it any other Nigerian would observe it and until after our court case, then, we will be able to make our satisfactory analysis on anything that has happened when we are in tandem with the court.
“As it is now, we can only make any observation as many Nigerians whether they come up with the list or not, it does not perturb us at all, already Nigerians are battling with the recent implication of the administration’s decision. how does the list improve the situation?
In an phone is interview with Nigerian Tribune, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo said the list bore the political direction of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the appointment of ministers are his prerogative as he would be responsible for his administration hence Nigerians are obliged to hold him responsible for the term he would be in office as the buck stops on his desk.
The SDP presidential candidate said the president while exercising his prerogative, is concerned about the level of performance along his desire for economic and societal growth in his choice
According to Adebayo: “They reflect the prerogatives of President Tinubu. It is within his right to select his team according to his vision of his presidency. It is absolutely an area where he should be allowed full benefits of the doubt.
“The president is 99% of the presidency. All the ministers are 100% of his own making. It is left for him to succeed or not. That’s the nature of a constitutional executive Presidency. Only he would know who is best for him and his mission.”
Adebayo said that the Senate has a responsibility to Nigerians to ensure that the nominees are capable of delivering to the mandate of the president and the aspiration of the Nigerian people on whose mandate they represent the respective constituencies in the upper legislative house.
He said the power of the people to scrutinize the nominees has been vested on the Senators and the people do not expect any less for the to live in an improved Nigeria.
The SDP presidential Candidate in the February 25 presidential election said that the Senate, in protecting the interest of the people must ensure that that nominees do not carry any moral burden to the exalted ministerial office for which they are expected to perform in the interest of the Nigerian people.
“The role of the Senate is to be sure that the nominees meet constitutional requirements and have no ethical and other moral complications,” Adebayo stated.
