Indigenous contractors and suppliers in Kwara state have benefitted 64 VIP toilet contracts worth N280 million from the state government in two years.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, members of the group, led by the 11-member caretaker committee chairman, Abiola Adegoke, said that the award of the VIP toilet contacts were in two batches of 32 each.
The indigenous contactors, who appreciated the state government for patronizing them, said that the gesture had helped to improve the socio-economic lives of members.
They promised that the privilege given to them through patronage would always be matched with quality services and completion of jobs within the scheduled time.
The indigenous contractors and suppliers, who assured Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of their competency in handling engineering constructions, said that they have among them tested and seasoned professionals to handle road, bridge, dam, and electrical engineering.
Adegoke also said that they would always ensure adherence to job specifications by members.
“The association has its own monitoring team made up of tested and seasoned professionals in civil and building construction. So far, none of our members and many has been found wanting in terms of substandard job in jobs by the state ministry of Education and the ongoing VIP toilet construction given to us by the SUBEB across the state. We have always completed jobs within the specified period of time.
“It is our wish to be seen as a reliable partner in both infrastructure development and mass mobilization towards overall development of our dear Kwara State.
“We want to assure the governor that Kwarans have convincingly seen through infrastructural enhancement of the state and other development strides that you meant well for all Kwarans”, he said.
The people also sensitized members on the need to register during the ongoing voters’ registration exercise to enable them to participate in future elections.
