Amidst an alleged internal crisis within the Kano State chapter of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the party’s leader and former presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declined to comment on the situation, stating, “I do not want to speak on the party crisis.”
While tensions reportedly simmer within the party, the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has left the state capital, prompting further speculation.
On Monday evening, NNPP’s state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, announced the suspension of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Bichi, and the Commissioner for Transport, Muhammad Diggol.
However, sources indicate that prior to their suspension, a reconciliation meeting had taken place, where both officials pledged their loyalty to Governor Yusuf, raising questions about the subsequent decision to suspend them.
Members of the party were however caught unaware of the latest development when hearing the suspension of the two cabinet members.
However, when members of the press met with Dr. Kwankwaso to get his comment, as regards his position as an elder of the party, he said he had decided not to comment on the ongoing internal crisis rocking the party in the state.
He said “I don’t want to talk please. Don’t drag me into what I am not supposed to be dragged into. The chairman of the party has spoken and has been speaking, reach out to him”.
However,it was later gathered that the state governor, was on his way to the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) when the press followed him to get his reactions over the matter,it was not successful.
As at the time of filling this report, efforts were been made to see , whether it will be possible to hears his own faction over the lingering crisis erupted in the party.
